Bio | Dr. Anna F. Porcaro studied guitar under Lawrence Green and completed masterclasses with John Holmquist, Frank Koonce, Andrew York, and Benjamin Verdery. In addition to soloing on guitar and lute, she has accompanied and performed with a variety of instrumental and vocal soloists, among which were Brigham Young University Singers; BYU’s Baroque Ensemble, Group for New Music, and Guitar Ensemble; the University of North Carolina Baroque Ensemble; and University of Dayton early music faculty ensemble. She holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Brigham Young University. Her research interests are in twentieth and twenty-first century music, American music, the recording industry, lute and guitar. She has published articles and reviews for American Music, Notes, The Choral Scholar, Ashgate Press, Salem Press, and Oxford University Press. |
