Bio | Annalisa Ewald, classical and baroque guitarist, was a protegée of Segovia’s colleague, Sophocles Papas. She attended the San Francisco Conservatory and holds a degree in Classical Guitar Performance from Bard College.
She feels privileged to have been mentored for twenty years by the profound Patrick O’Brien, Juilliard Historical Plucked Strings Department Head, founder of the New York Continuo Collective, and internationally recognized authority on early music and resolution of musicians’ performance injuries. She was a member of the New York Continuo Collective, a unique workshop for baroque performance practice, for over a decade.
She inaugurated the Cosmos Club Concert series in Washington, D.C., won numerous grants from the New York State Council on the Arts, and earned the No. 8 spot on the Billboard Traditional Classical chart with her critically acclaimed debut solo album.
She is a frequent solo performer, and with harpist Richard Spendio, recently launched Circe’s Consort, an early music ensemble exploring European and Latin American music of the baroque period.
She recently moved to Santa Fe, NM, where she is planning a performance practice workshop on Spanish music of the 16th and 17th centuries. |
